United Bank recently donated $1,500 to support the Minor Repair Program of Griffin Area Habitat for Humanity.
The program, started this past summer, is focused on repairs and access improvements for the disabled and others on limited incomes.
John Rainwater, President of the Griffin Division of United Bank, stated, “United Bank is proud to support such an important program which can make a difference in the lives of older and disabled people who could not do the work themselves,” said John Rainwater, president of the Griffin Division of United Bank.
Response to the program has been very strong. GAHH has about seven projects either completed or underway with around six others being assessed and waiting approval.
Mark Staples, GAHH Executive Director, noted, “We are receiving several applications a week for things like building handicapped ramps, fixing damaged drywall and repairing rotted porch floors and small siding repairs. So far we have completed two ramps and are working on a third,” said GAHH Executive Director Mark Staples.
Applications and details about the program are available online at the GAHH website at www.griffinhabitat.com. Those interested in volunteering are asked to call Mark Staples at 770-468-4431.
